Interesting
Oct. 27th, 2009 01:56 pmI got books in the mail today and yesterday.
Today, my author's copy of Curse of the Pharaoh's Manicurists arrived. Yesterday, i got about 10 copies of Ellora's Cavemen: Flavors of Ecstasy III.
There is a world of difference in these two trade paperbacks.
Cavemen sells for $14.99. It has 275 pages of story, printed on light greyish pulp stock, a step up from newsprint. The full color, semi-gloss cover is very thin, thinner than the cover of Taboo treats or Nocturnal Urges. It feels flimsy. And so far, I've read 5 of the six stories. I really liked two of them (one of which was mine) and thought a third had an interesting premise, but sank under too much sex.
Manicurists sells for $13.50. It's 1/2" shorter than Cavemen and has 139 pages of story. The size seems reasonable. The high-gloss, full color cover is standard weight. The interior pages are white standard stock.
The only thing nice about the Ellora books is the font. It is a well-spaced font, easy to read even on the pulp. Manicurists uses a font that I find just a little narrow.
