Finished watching DIARY OF THE DEAD, which was about as gross as expected.

Set up a book signing in Rolla on Friday of ConTraception.
reannon I work that Friday and won't get out of Memphis until noon. Then I'm stopping in Rolla for an hour or so for the signing. Don't look for me Friday night until about 11 PM. And I will be DEAD.

Got a "I'll call you after I check everything" back from Barnes & Noble in Independence.

700+ words on a time travel story for Circlet.

Got the art for a book. It's gorgeous.

Going to bed. Was up too late with Dollface's homework last night.

I found Diary of the Dead utterly pointless. Great that Romero discovered the joys of steadicams 20 years after Goodfellas but he even cheated at his own conceit. And then explained why he cheated with a shot of the guys editing an internal shot which made it obvious that he cheated. If he had just cheated, it wouldn't have been noticeable - like that bear attack in Faces of Death with the long shot that looks great before you realize that it means that if it was real that there was another camper with a camcorder who just happened to be in the area.

But the rest of it was the standard Romero plot of zombies are coming, zombies are coming - let's all hide in this compound and shoot them one by one. Oops one of us is infected! Everyone's dead.

Feh.

Land of the Dead was pretty good. THe rest of Romero's movies bore me senseless.

Night of the Living Dead, the original, gave me nightmares for years. Of course, I was about 16 when I saw it.

Diary of the Dead was just gross. Not as gross as Planet Terror, but still gross. Steadicam doesn't work for me. Neither do a bunch of self-absorbed foul-mouthed twenty-somethings.
