An experiment
Sep. 21st, 2009 07:08 pmSo, today I had some major writing to accomplish. I contemplated what I would be undertaking and then picked out a scent that sounded appropriate to it.
Since I'm writing vampires, it was "Darkness."
Darkness (Ars Moriendi):
The waves were dead; the tides were in their grave,
The moon, their mistress, had expir'd before;
The winds were wither'd in the stagnant air,
And the clouds perish'd; Darkness had no need
Of aid from them -- She was the Universe.
Bottled gloom; the essence of oblivion. Blackest opium and narcissus deepened by myrrh.
Vial: thick dark honey with incense and perfume
Wet: Must be the opium I'm smelling. It's not myrrh or flowers. It's a resiny, thick scent, nasty.
Drydown: There's the narcissus. I like it. The opium is a nasty undertone, though. Narcissus really coming through though. The myrrh and opium are there under the flower, but the flower is beating them. Myrrh coming in a bit more. Very nice.
Dry: Very nice. Myrrh and Narcissus.
I chose solely by name, not checking the reviews.
So far: 2100 words on the story.
