10 till 11 and I can't sleep.
Bone-weary and my eyes are all hot, but sleep eludes me.

I'd forgotten how much work 4 kids day-to-day are.
Three meals, endless laundry, constant cleaning. At least the daycare covers 2 meals during the week, and on week-ends, it's catch-as-catch-can.

After lunch, we went to the zoo. That was fun. Olivia got a mad urge to see kangaroos, so we tromped all over the Australia exhibit. I hope the pic I took of her very close to the roos turns out.

We always say "Next time we'll ride the train." Well, this was next time. We had a nice ride. I took some very atmospheric pictures down at the old WPA cages. I can't wait to greyscale them.

We had dinner and watched "The Sound of Music." I did laundry, dishes. Fed the kids the end of the birthday cake.

Bedtime was the usual nightmare.

And now I'm not tired, despite being very weary.

The Roman Spock/McCoy AU has begun. To those who know ancient Rome would it be Leonardo or Leonardius?

And my rootcanal aches. I must have gotten cold today.

You asked: The Roman Spock/McCoy AU has begun. To those who know ancient Rome would it be Leonardo or Leonardius?

Leonardo is medieval Italian. (Leonardo Fibonacci was born 1175.) Medieval Italian is supposed to be very closely related to the Latin that the Romans actually spoke (as opposed to the classical Latin that good writers wrote). I would go for Leonardo, personally, since Leonardius is a non-name - note that it would be his cognomen (http://www.sit.wisc.edu/~sfriedemann/names/sg-roman.htm), and you may also need to think up a proper Roman praenomen-nomen for him.

Click here for further helpful sites on naming conventions (http://www.panix.com/~mittle/names/other.shtml).

I love Spock/McCoy. Look forward to hearing more about this one...

Thank you

I'm learning about ancient Rome as I go.
It's not like the Viking SW AU I wrote where I had a solid background.

I can talk medieval English naming conventions until I'm blue in the face, but have much to learn yet about Roman ones.

It's basically set around AD 400. The healer Leonardo buys a captive from the Colisium (I can't spell this AM), one who is billed as a Satyr from Wild Brittania. It is a lot of schmoop.
Including a garden and cats and a villa.

I promised Janet I'd write it for her as compensation for the ugly Mirror'verse Mind-control piece. (Mirror Spock is a Bad Man.)
