Flee, it's the Garden Witch Project!
Apr. 8th, 2009 06:18 pmPhase 2 accomplished
Winesap apple tree planted
Reliant peach tree planted. It has two little blossoms on it! I may get peaches this year!
Blueberries watered. (there are blossoms!)
Box planted with
8 tomatoes: 4 beefsteak, 4 Brandywine
16 carrots, Danvers
A lettuce patch
A spinach patch
4 heads lettuce
4 Straight Eight Cucumbers
and 2 birdhouse gourds
3x6 plot planted with
48 Sugar Dots corn
24 Kentucky Wonder Pole Beans
and 4 Black Beauty Zucchini
Dollface blessed each square as we planted it with a spiral, a star or the triple moon.
We prayed over the whole shebang. Like the moon phase and moon sign, we'll take any help we can get.
Active in greenhouse:
Jumbo canteloupe
Sugar Baby Watermelon
Clemson Spineless Okra
Jack-o-Lantern Pumpkin (may have to replant in July)
No rhubarb or gooseberries to be had on this side of the river.
Will call around Memphis tomorrow.
Linehaul was late and we swapped instead of slipped so I ran late all day.

Date: 2009-04-08 11:36 pm (UTC)I hope you are able to find a gooseberry bush. I remember picking them when were kids. I haven't had gooseberry pie in forever and I truly miss it. I remember our grandparents everytime I think about you and the garden.

Date: 2009-04-09 12:10 am (UTC)But you know that when I get them planted and get a pie made, it's coming with us to the city, or turning up on the table at July 4 or Thanksgiving.
I'm hoping to be able to tell Dad "Don't go to the store until we get there! We have food!" and show up with tomatoes, corn, greenbeans and cucumbers in vinegar and a watermelon and a chocolate zucchini cake.

Date: 2009-04-09 12:27 am (UTC)I look forward to the visit whether or not you have stuff from the garden. I got spoiled seeing you all a number of times last year.

Date: 2009-04-09 12:32 am (UTC)But yes, definitely looking forward to the visit.
Mom said she doesn't know much about you, but she knows you adore the kids. And since it's mutual, you must be all right.

Date: 2009-04-09 12:37 am (UTC)I enjoyed seeing your mom. And the kids just like me because I am indulgent and I can semi speak their language.

Date: 2009-04-09 01:36 am (UTC)Lettuce and peas should have already been in, if I were doing them this year. Tomatoes would have frozen and the ground is too frozen to plant trees. My peach tree has a few leaf buds. :)
But Yay! on your progress!

Date: 2009-04-09 01:38 am (UTC)We can't plant here yet due to annoying Midwestern weather. At least I've got tomato seedlings going in the garage.
Looks like you've got a good start!
I wish you and your garden many bright blessings. ^_^

Date: 2009-04-09 01:38 am (UTC)I planted some golden raspberry two years ago. It just died. My heritage raspberries are still surviving serious misuse.

Date: 2009-04-09 01:52 am (UTC)I spent a lot on making the boxes, so i didn't get as many fruits as I wanted.

Date: 2009-04-09 01:53 am (UTC)With three witches on the case, we should be able to overcome the Lesbian Black Thumb that two of us bring to it.

Date: 2009-04-09 01:57 am (UTC)Hahahahaha! Is that why I can't grow a garden like my mother's? I'm not Lesbian, but I'm butch as hell.
