BPAL: Black Forest, Phoenix Steamworks
Feb. 23rd, 2009 05:31 pmPhoenix Steamworks: Burnished gold and oiled bronze notes with Abramelin incense and sage.
Vial: Sage, spice and sharpness, like an aftershave
Wet: Warm and yellow smelling with a hint of sage
Drydown: Incense and sage coming through and the yellow better get out of their way
Dry: A more metallic smell comes out under the incense. A very masculine, aftershave quality, mellow.
2 hours: Mellow and golden, the incense is the primary smell. I like it. Definitely a speciality scent, but it would wear nicely with a leather jacket
Black Forest: This is the captured scent of a cold, moonless night, lost deep within the darkest wood. Haunting and desolate, this scent evokes images of fairy tale tragedy and half-remembered nightmares. Thick, viscous pine with ambergris, black musk, juniper and cypress.
Vial: Pine and more pine, not Pine-sol, but a pine air freshener.
Wet: The sharp little juniper comes through, with its berries
Drydown: Pine and juniper. Almost overwhelming
Dry: Pine and juniper still, but some musk coming in, moderating the scent
2 hours: This smells just like a wax pine tree I had and used as a Barbie Christmas tree for years. Bleh. It was a wild-card so I will probably swap it.
