I don't know your body shape that well, but with good foundation garments to lift and smooth everything out, I think it would look good. If you have really broad shoulders compared to your hips, you might want to think twice, but if you're more even, and you do have a waist smaller than your shoulders and hips, you could look good in it. I have to say that I like good foundation garments; they keep the wiggle while losing the jiggle, so to speak.
I think the fat chick thing is that while you're never going to look like Marilyn in it, that cut of dress can look good on someone your size or my size. It draws attention to the boobs and the face, covers the boobs up well, has a wide halter that will hide a bra strap, construction that will hide a bra-of-holding +5, good back coverage, emphasizes the smallest part of the body, and floats away from there. If you're tall, it probably hits around the knee, which is a flattering length. I think the foundation garments will make the dress. Don't strangle yourself in something to make you smaller, just get something to make you smoother. It'll make the dress fall better.
Neither of us are ever not going to look like fat chicks, but we can look like really hot fat chicks, and that *is* hot. Get some really spicy shoes to go with it, and strut your stuff. The MOST important thing is whether or not you feel good in the dress. If you feel hot in the dress, you'll look hot in the dress. If you put it on and feel omggirlysexyhot! it's worth every penny, and screw anyone who says you shouldn't be wearing it can go to Hell. *g*
I have a very definite waist. That's why I was thinking of it. Anything that flows off my boobs makes me look huge.
Thing is, I wear the dress, feel hot and then I see the pictures and go "Dear gods, is there anything less attractive than a fat middle-aged broad who thinks she's sexy?"
Aww, never look at the pictures. Seriously, the flash on them flattens you out and kills all the amazing curves that show up in person. It's dreadful. Mystic even takes unflattering photos sometimes, and she's so willowy and tall it's surreal to me. Harsh flash is EVIL.
If you have a definite waist and you like having your arms and shoulders bare -- I really do -- then go for it. That cut is really going to flatter your bust line without having your boobs leaping into people's faces and it'll play up the curve into your waist. The right shoes and the right hem length and your calves will look sexy as well.
I have amazing calves. All the walking and climbing and pushing I do in a day has made them rock hard and curved. My thighs get mushy about halfway up, but my butt is flattening out and getting harder too.
I'm looking at a few others. That one ends too soon to be affordable. (Maybe they'll re-list it)

Date: 2008-08-31 03:26 pm (UTC)MM was a size 16-18 when she wore that dress. Trinny & Susannah say flaunt it. So do I.
