Since I cannot find the "Seven meets the Parents" chapter anywhere, I'm doing my ShowMeCon Report. Albeit w/o pictures.

Friday:
I got out a little later than I'd planned, thanks to laundry. The drive up wasn't bad, although Nick seemed intent on replaying his most pathetic moments.

I got to the hotel with no problem, only to find a line that stretched to Tokoyo. Anime kids galore. And no badges for the guests. (I did eventually get one) I went to opening ceremonies and found [livejournal.com profile] saraphina_marie by accident.

[livejournal.com profile] reannon made it, and we got settled in our room. Chaos ensued for the rest of the weekend. 8) [livejournal.com profile] tsita is very cool, and her munchkin is adorable.

Programming for ShowMeCon was thin on the ground, but I talked about e-books and writing sex, a couple fo my favorite things. I have no farking clue how I ended up on the Saturday CSI panel. (All I know about CSI is that Gil Grissom has the kind of sense of humor that pairs up James "Sawyer" Ford and Han Solo for the Sex Cultures class mock wedding and doesn't put a girl in the group.)

I shared an authors' alley table with Shane Moore, who actually read part of "Dispatches from the Den of Debauchery." His response "ooo, porn! Looks nicely done too." (silence, silence) "Not my taste, but damn that's good writing!"

I gave a lot of directions to the poor folks there for the wedding reception and the bar mitzvah. They saw me, looking middle-aged and normal amid throngs of Yu-gi-ohs and Inu Yashas, and asked for the bathroom and/or an explanation.

I am out of newletters. I put a sign on the table "Free Yaoi!" and they were GONE, Jack!

We hijacked a room and held readings. I tried not to go too porny with any of them. The Nikolai segment went over well. And I kept pushing "Tuition Fees" with "And it came out TODAY!"

We were talking about changes of con-clothes, and I asked Sarah, who is a professional costumer, for suggestions. She's known me for less than 48 hours and says "Leather."

I'm considering over the knee boots, tight brown jeans, a clingy deep-plunge orange sweater and a leather duster coat. Plus short spikey hair, clunky, sharp earrings, and a piece of cursed Aztec Gold around my neck. It would be a look. An expensive one, but a Look.

We went to the mall for dinner Saturday (I recommend the California Pizza Kitchen's Greek pizza without reservation) and in Torrid I tried on a green dress. Cute, sparkly, and made me look like Tinkerbell's drunken, middle-aged mother-in-law.

I got inspired and let the ladies do me up in female drag for Saturday evening. I actually had one man leering down my cleavage in the con-suite. I said "Enjoy the view, they don't get out much." He shook his head. "What a crime."

It was a good time, even if there were a lot of problems. The hotel was very nice ($350/night usually), but they have debit card issues and a $10/day surcharge on internet.

The con seemed...disorganized, to be kind about it. I know they all worked hard and weren't really prepared for the huge onslaught of anime kids.

I had a good time. I would definitely go back. [livejournal.com profile] dakiwiboid, next time, we are going to connect.
