More silliness
Sep. 2nd, 2002 12:30 amIn honor of getting my story off to Kathleen for No Holds Barred, here is the "How Jedi Are You?" quiz result.

:: how jedi are you? ::
Well, I'm obviously not headed off to Dagobah to contemplate my navel any time soon. *evil grin*
Back to semi serious: still happy-dancing over getting the story done. 9 pages in 2 days will leave one a bit fashed.
Sometimes I wonder if I really should go back looking for an anthropology degree with a speciality in comparative folklore. The piece for NHB was a fairy tale (Smack hubby once again for commenting "Of course it is. It's slash.") It combines elements of Cinderella, Cap O'Rushes (an English Cinderella) and Tattercoats (which is, I believe, German). They're all the same basic story, differing in detail.
I'm crazy about fairy tales. I like the originals. And I LOVE Tanith Lee's Red as Blood; Tales from the Sisters Grimmer. She alters them. The Piper is a messiah sent to wean the people from worship of their Rat-god, Snow White is a vampire, Cinderella is a witch bent on destruction of the prince and his whole kingdom. Datlow and Whiting also put together several books of rewritten fairy tales. The quality is uneven, and sometimes it's just entertaining to watch the spin well-known authors put on these stories. (I like the one where Hansel and Gretel are tried for witchcraft)
Naturally, when Alex
walkerminion put out a fairy tale challenge to the Luke_and_Han list, I had to take it. I have a couple more percolating.
Speaking of percolation, I'm still trying to get a Star trek AU set in ancient Rome (Spock/McCoy) to jel without becoming "Buying Trouble" which is a TPM Roman AU. Good zine too, with lots of different perspectives on the Q/O relationship. I bought it when I picked up a second copy of "Constricted by Plot." I got a trib copy of that one.
I'm rambling and I promised I'd write some hot Doctor/Vulcan lovin' this week.
A/C Tuesday, we hope. *prays frantically to the appliance gods*
