Paul Robeson was a singer and actor. He's best known for Showboat and The Emperor Jones. He fell out of favor when he became involved with black nationalism.

Beautiful man. Died in the 70s.

I thought he fell out of favor because he was blacklisted as a Communist, along with half of Hollywood? Am I crazy?

I have MP3s of his performances of "Danny Boy" and "Old Man River." He was astounding.

It was black nationalism that led him to communism, since he came to see capitalism as a tool of black oppression.

Much in the same way many of the 60's feminists embraced socialism.
