From Everyone:

I love looking at people's icons, but I don't always *get* them - I often wonder stuff like, "Who's that guy?" or "Where's that quote from?" but I tend not to ask, for various reasons. So come on, here are my icons. Pick one (or more!) you're curious about, and I'll try to explain it. Or at least explain what I like about it.

I've always wondered about your default picture. I like it a lot, but I can't figure out exactly what it is supposed to be. *sheepish*

It's a Neopet.
http://www.neopets.com

It's a virtual pet site with lots of free games to play. Merchandise is also sold in Limited Too and Wal-Mart's toy aisle.

That's Alexandrian_Librarian. She is a species called an Aisha, which is a 4-eared cat. I painted her with a Lost Desert Paintbrush to get the Egyptian look.

I have 4 other permanent pets: a skunk-striped tyrannosaurus (a Grarrl), a Pirate tiger (a kougra), a nightmare hippocampus (a peophin) and a fiery winged unicorn (a uni)

And there are two that rotate on an adopt-train-release program with the Pound.

Would you please give some background on the Role Model icon?

That's Debbie Novotny from "Queer as Folk." She's played by Sharon Gless, and is "larger than life with a mouth to match."

She is Michael's mom, and unofficial den mother to the pack of lost boys that cluster around Michael and Brian.

She is my role model (except I hope to do better than head waitress in a gay diner) in that she loves fiercely and freely, cares for anyone who comes into her orbit and is not afraid to tell any of "her boys" when they are behaving badly. She's what I want to be as a parent and as a person.

That's Alexandrian_Librarian. She's a Neopet, a Lost Desert Aisha to be specific. She started out as an ordinary yellow Aisha, but I painted her.

Neopets is an on-line virtual pet site, with lots of games. I loved the Egyptian Kitty look.

It is indeed. That's Offred, just after she's been given her red veil.

I have a huge crush on Natasha Richardson.

Fen is the plural of fan, as men is the plural of man.

So basically, I use it when I'm zen or when fandom in general needs to take a few deep breaths.

Those are Harrison Ford's pimp shoes.
I got 'em off the cover of German magazine. He was wearing all white and just needed a hat and cane.
