valarltdY'ever have a really funny idea, one that is perfect for a story? Then you reread the story and find out it won't fit at all? Yeah, that kind of bummer.
So I'm working on a Roman SW AU. Janus has discarded his birthname of Han when he left his birthplace in Germania. He's now a sculptor in Rome. Shuie is his constant companion, a great Mongol he bought and freed. Anyway, Janus is carving a statue of Apollo for the temple.
The priests have come to observe the work and are displeased with the proportions.
"We commissioned of you a marble Apollo. Not a fig-wood Priapus."
Shuie glared. "That's because you mold your own Pripus from the brown wood out of your own ficus." He used the word that meant not only "fig tree" but "anus."
Janus ignored them all, his hands on the cool marble, touching, planning the next stroke of his chisel.
That's almost as good as trying to work the words smjorr-redr argr into "Illugi's Saga." Which I didn't. There was no need to call anyone a "butter-dicked faggot" which is the literal translation.
Bunny's tights are here, all the way from England. the 47p stamp is really cool. She'll like that for her collection too.
