Family group not counting on marriage poll results

Maybe this one will be a case of "ask, but don't tell."

The American Family Association, a leading force in defining marriage nationwide as between one man and one woman, originally said on its Web site that it intended to report to Congress the results of its Internet poll on gay marriage.

But now it is "probably not" going to follow through, a spokesman said, after nearly 60 percent of the more than 825,000 votes tallied expressed support of gay marriage.

"Homosexual activist groups went to the trouble of skewing this particular poll," said Gary Glenn, director of the AFA of Michigan, located in Midland. "Perhaps it is some comfort to them."

The organization considered pulling the poll off its Web site, but decided instead to leave it as a wake-up call to "traditional American families (who) do not realize the seriousness of this threat," said Buddy Smith, executive assistant to the chairman of the AFA.

"We were surprised they hijacked the poll," said Smith.

Mary Scholl, president of the local chapter of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, said she voted in the poll and encouraged many others to, but still is surprised at the results.

"I know it is not a scientific poll, but I still love to look at the numbers," Scholl said.

The poll is located on the AFA's Web site at www.afa.net.

Ooo, I'm a hijacking activist now!
And I thought I was just a loving mum who wanted her kids to be able to marry the person of their choosing.

"Cause Justice is the one thing you should always find.
You gotta saddle up your boys,
You gotta draw a hard line.
When the gunsmoke settles we'll sing a victory tune
And we'll all meet back at the local saloon.
We'll raise up our glasses against evil forces
saying whiskey for my men
beer for my horses."

I think that the fact that webspace is really much more liberal is a bit of surprise to these people. Wonder why?

YAY!!! Me, too!

What's funny, is you KNOW that they had people voting more than once, too... using their kid's names and so forth...

Bitches.

oh, thanks for that...I just love looking at that poll and the nasty surprise it must have been for them :-)

And I'm so with you on the loving mom thing. I mean, why do these people think that anyone supporting gay marriage is some flaming guy in NYC or SF?
