Obsolete

This is worrisome. Lately, I've been having writing ideas, and the powerful urge to write. Always in a place where I can't. But when i get somewhere I can, it all turns to "meh. Nobody will read it anyway."

I know I'm discouraged. The question is, am I obsolete? I feel old and creaky, and very like a crazy old auntie who shakes her cane at the fire hydrant and quotes the SCUM Manifesto at it. I'm loud, I have very definite opinions. And I can't voice them without being considered obnoxious. (Not all of them are kind or useful, but they are my opinions)

I've voiced them in the past and am wondering if it's hurting my readership levels. I know I know, those who matter don't mind and those who mind, don't matter, until they do and aren't buying your book because of you opinions. There are writers I won't buy, for these reason.

My facebook feed is down to cat pictures and humor, with occasional political humor. I say nothing about writing, or the genre or anything of import. There are endless discussions on Queer Sci-fi and all I do is link to blog posts I made 5-10 years ago on the subject.

I don't even know if I want to reissue the titles that have reverted to me.

Eh, early pre-caffeine whining. Or maybe it's the effect of not having a day off since the 5th.
Or maybe I'm just done, will finish the Nick'verse and quit.

If some of your opinions aren't, in your own admissions, "kind or useful," then why share them? Share the ones that are kind and useful. Share the ones that are kind but not useful. Share the ones that are not kind but useful. But if they are neither kind NOR useful... then why share them except to be an asshole to other people?

Because they are germane to the discussion. But instead, I sit on my hands, and feel as if I'm going to explode.
