An idea whose time may never come
Oct. 21st, 2015 05:17 pmI know what I want to see.
Pagan country music. It seems such a natural fit, since "paganus" literally means country dweller. We make a good showing in folk and metal, but not so much in basic country.
So this. All about the joys of the red dirt roads, the creeks and pines, and pick-up trucks, trains, dogs, Mama, and getting drunk. But as often as the Extruded Country-pop Product mentions God or Jesus or church, it would talk about the gods, rituals, and suchlike.
Big truck roaring now
Herne's Horn sounding loud
As the Hunter rides alongside of me
Wild Hunting in the dark
headlights and four mud tires
Take it where my lady waits
Headed down to the crick
Having a moonlight rit
drinking all that sacred mead
All about fertility!
Cause pagan country boy
kind of a redundancy
Just my witch and me
out dancing naked in the trees
