We had a coupon for pesto.
We are simple people, midwesterners of English, Irish and German extraction. We have no clue what Pesto is.
I picked up the jar and read the ingredients.
Several of the cheeses were listed as pdo. My mind translated this as "poo" So we read the list with spinach and garlic and basil and several kinds of cheese poo.
PDO means Protected Designation of Origin (I looked it up). It means that the cheese so designated only comes from a particular place. True Asiago cheese comes only from Padua, Treviso, Vicenza and Trentino, for example.
Somehow, cheese poo is rather more fun. If much less exotic. Sometimes, I'm seven.
BTW, we did not get the pesto. We left the coupon for someone whose Italian cuisine skills are rather higher than frozen ravioli and jarred spaghetti sauce.
