Attraction, In Love and Love
Aug. 30th, 2016 11:29 pmIf I hear the phrase "You can't control who you love" one more time, I'll scream.
You absolutely CAN control who you love.
If you find someone attractive, and after spending a bit more time with them, discover they are wrong for you, stop spending time. You know what you need to know about that person. Leave them alone.
Attraction, that we can't control.
We have certain things that are hardwired into us as attractive, because they are indicators of health: height (male), curves (female), good hair. Symmetrical features. Clear skin, good posture, even teeth. All these things mean a healthy person to our hindbrain. They mean someone with no disease and enough resources to grow well.
Poor posture and bad teeth are indicative of weak muscles and diseased bones. Thin hair or baldness signals a lack of food. Shortness or asymmetrical faces can mean malnutrition.
Beyond that, our society dictates what we should find attractive. I have two distinct types, explained here.
We form our attraction paradigm early in life.
So we see someone attractive. The only way to establish compatibility is to meet and get acquainted. We call this falling in love.
Unfortunately everyone gets all swoony here when they should have feet firmly on the ground and their eyes and ears open. This is where you learn whether the person is worthy of your love.
And if not, this is the time to walk.
So stay alert.Trust No one. Keep your laser handy! Watch the person closely and warily. And if you see red flags, don't get any deeper. No more dates. no more time. Time and proximity are the two largest factors in love. Remove both, and nobody falls in love.
Control who you love. Make sure the person is worthy.
