[Error: unknown template qotd]I've been listening to Bernie Sanders for years now. I like his ideas: a return to what worked economically in the 50s and 60s, when unions made the middle class strong, and a business was an investment for the people who ran it instead of a piggy bank to be plundered.

I want a return to the country--economically speaking--that my parents had: good school, solid job, benefits and retirement, instead of this piecemeal, job-work economy. Failing that, I stand for Universal Basic Income, which would streamline social services, and allow a cushion for the working poor.

However, I'm not sure Sanders has a presidential temperament. He's a fiery gadfly with no sense of humor.

I suspect Clinton will get/buy the dem nomination. The oligarchs like her. She's nonthreatening to their goals.

The GOP... This crew has drunk the religious right/small government to the point of no government Kool-aid. And the oligarchs are deeply unhappy about that. They don't want a theocrat. They learned the lesson of fanatics and the levers of power nearly 100 years ago. Christie or Bush has the best chance. They have their bad moments, but they don't actively WANT to destroy the government and repeal the 20th century.

I know Tom Cotton is positioning for a 2020 run. I'd like to see him lost in a cypress slough before that happens.
