One decadently rich pie, and a family favorite round out the year. Thank you for enjoying this feature. I'm out of savory pies. I might continue running sweet only if there is interest.

Impossible Cheeseburger Pie

1 lb ground beef
1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
1 can mushrooms drained
1/2 teaspoon salt
pepper
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
1/2 cup baking mix
1 cup milk
2 eggs

1 Heat oven to 400°F. Spray 9-inch glass pie plate with cooking spray.

2 In 10-inch skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is brown; drain. Stir in salt. Spread in pie plate. Sprinkle with cheese.

3 In small bowl, stir remaining ingredients with fork or wire whisk until blended. Pour into pie plate.

4 Bake about 25 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Truffle Pie

TRUFFLE FILLING:
2⁄3 cup heavy cream
6 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips
1 9-inch prepared graham cracker crust

WHIPPED CHOCOLATE FILLING:
6 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips
1 1⁄2 cups heavy cream
1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla

WHIPPED CREAM TOPPING:
1 cup heavy cream
1⁄4 cup confectioners’ (powdered) sugar

GARNISH:
1 1⁄2 ounces milk chocolate
1 1⁄2 ounces white chocolate
1 1⁄2 ounces semisweet or dark chocolate

Instructions:

For the truffle filling, in a saucepan, bring 2⁄3 cup cream to a simmer. Place the 6 ounces chocolate chips in a bowl and pour the hot cream over the chocolate. Let stand for 1 minute, then gently whisk until smooth. Spread truffle filling over the bottom of the prepared piecrust. Freeze for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, for the whipped chocolate filling, in a double boiler or a microwave set on low power, heat the 6 ounces chocolate chips with 1⁄2 cup of the cream until the chocolate is just melted, stirring often. Let cool to room temperature. In a chilled bowl, beat the remaining 1 cup cream until thick. Add the chocolate mixture and the vanilla and beat until soft peaks form (tips curl). Spread the whipped chocolate mixture over the truffle filing in the crust. Refrigerate overnight.

Just before serving, for the topping, beat 1 cup cream on medium speed of an electric mixer until it begins to thicken. Add confectioners’ sugar and whip until stiff peaks form (tips stand straight). Spread the whipped cream over the top of the pie. Using a grater or vegetable peeler, make pieces or shavings of milk chocolate, white chocolate, and semisweet or dark chocolate. Garnish pie with chocolate pieces. Serve immediately.

One of my favorite holiday gifts, from a fannish exchange is this one:

Nativity by MilkshakeB

It's the coda to Dogma, with Brimstone crossover.

Really, this should have been obvious, even before the contractions had started. Blindingly obvious, even, which made her briefly wonder if she'd been... influenced, a bit, not to see it. Briefly she considered yelling the question skyward, but eventually she decided not to. After all, she might get answered.

Besides, if things were following convention, she'd come out of the whole event fine, if possibly with a closer appreciation of livestock than she'd ever really wanted. It still wouldn't be any worse than some of the things she'd lived through. So Bethany crept forward for as long as her car could run, grateful that at least she wasn't in any pain yet --she'd had periods worse than this--and peering through the snow, looking for the barn that she was sure had to be there.

As it happened, she was wrong. There was no barn.

There was, however, a Wal-Mart.

Go forth and enjoy.
