The video's not interesting, but I love the song. It reminds me of Parl Dro from Tanith Lee's "Kill the Dead." I also like Joan Osborn's voice better than bob Dylan's.

7. What's your favorite Halloween character?

Werewolves, because it's a blood moon

Werewolves are a fave rave around here, whether metaphors, vicious predators, or ordinary architects who have a bad hair night. Werewolf movies are hard to do well, though. The effects are often risible. Some pack a punch though. Lots of people complain about Lupin in Prisoner of Azkhaban. I did not. This picture haunted my nightmares from early double digits.


The Wolf Man was the first horror movie to make a real impression on me, one that lasted a long time (I still don't like being outside after dark.)

Unlikely. Or possibly falling back on my kitchen witch, which is a fairly elaborate witch hat and an apron

In the Mouth of Madness.

Sam Neil is sent out to find reclusive writer Sutter Cain, whose books have an intense effect on some readers (including bleeding from the eyes and axe murder), because his latest book is over deadline.

4. Best Halloween/Fall themed food

My favorite is Brain Dip


Shrimp and crab spread in a seasoned cream cheese base.


5. Your first horror movie

Creature from the Black Lagoon. And it scared me to pieces. I was watching it on the floor of the duplex with my two new step-sisters, and I remember nothing of the plot except being scared, yet somehow feeling safe with them there, and the grownups in the lighted kitchen.
