Writing sociopaths + listening to political talk=headdesk

I have been writing too many sociopaths lately.

I was listening to Sirius Left this morning and it's all about Wisconsin (with a side into Michelle Obama's plate of ribs).

My first thought was "send bounty hunters to retrieve the Senators...or at least their heads."
My second was "display the heads prominently in the capitol, and tell the protestors that they must clear out or be shot. Then shoot."
My third thought is "I'm writing too many powerful sociopaths who are above the law."
My fourth is "when I get paid, I'm buying pizza for the protestors."

I'll talk about the ribs.

MIchelle Obama and ribs

So, we were treated to the auditory spectacle of Rush Limbaugh going off on the First Lady for having a plate of ribs.

This.... flames on the sides of my face...

1) Anything can be worked into a balanced diet.
2) An occasional treat is fine. It's when the treats become a regular thing.
3) Some nasty dogwhistles in the part about show us how to live on twigs and berries and roots. Black=nature dwelling primitive without the art of fire apparently, even when one is the First Lady of the United States.
4) Clearly, no woman is immune to body shaming. Also the "black=ugly" got laid on with the subtextual trowel.
5) Rush can go choke on a Viagra.

14) Cats Don't Dance. Animated tale of a cat who wants to be a movie star but finds one Dora Dimple firmly in his way. (f, 2)

15) Karate Kid. Will Smith's son takes lessons from Jackie Chan to defeat the bullies. (f,2)

Books for 2011

1) Cherry on Top. M. Rode, ed. A pretty good anthology about first times. I was gifted a copy by bg_thomas. The stories ranged from cute to intense, memorable to utter pablum. I liked the early look at Dr. Fell, Kiernan Kelly turned in a terrific one with her tale of first love rediscovered. (But Kiernan is almost always the standout in a TQ anthology) Ben's offering was a story of a young man discovering his own and his best friend's sexuality. It was cute.

2) Dr. Doolittle's Circus. Hugh Lofting. Dr. Doolittle and his family take the pushmipullyu on the road to make money. On the way, helps a seal escape, helps end fox hunting in a district and generally reforms the whole outfit. Long and very victorian lit.
