Dec. 31st, 2009
Kansas City
Dec. 31st, 2009 05:33 pmThere is a BUTLOAD of snow on the ground up here. The kids have built a snowman and a snow fort and been sledding both down their grandfather's side yard and down the hills at William Crisman HS.
I've had a booger of a cold, but it seems to be breaking up nicely. I feel about a hundred times better today than yesterday.
Oli is out seeing Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 for her birthday. Once I'm done here, I'll head home and bake her birthday cake. My baby is 10. Y'all have been with me through everything from toilet training to the first day of school.
Not much here. Just doing some reading and a lot of napping trying to shake my cold.

Aside from the writing I did all right.

Next year:
1) Bigger garden. Plant gooseberry bushes and rhubarb
2) 12 craft projects
3) write 300,000 words. I desperately need something to come out next year
4) 50 books
5) 50 movies
6) Stick with Weight watchers and get off that plateau!

Movies to 48
Dec. 31st, 2009 05:49 pmP/f is whether the movie passes the Bechdel Test. There must be 1) Two female characters 2) who talk to each other, 3) about something besides a man.
Passing doesn't make a good movie or a feminist one. Failing doesn't mean a bad movie. I find this an interesting measure of roles for women.
45) X2: X-men united. Rewatch. Still good
46) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Rewatch. Flawed, but entertaining. Neville grew a chin! When Dollface asked who Remus was I said "Sirius' boyfriend, see? they're practically cuddling the council meeting." Sirius is...not quite all there.
47) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Kenneth Branaugh is delightfully insufferable in this one. rewatch
48) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Best of the movies (and books) IMO. Alan Rickman is confident enough in himself to pull off the Boggarst scene beautifully. rewatch
