1) There has always been a Phantasmagoria.
2) The tent stank of death.
3) Chastity Millwood set her embroidery in her lap and raised the parchment shade over the brass porthole.
4) Marcus strode across the floor of the club, ignoring the blank-faced boy who ground against the dancer's pole wearing only chaps and a fringed vest, ignoring the stares of the other patrons and the pulsating music.
5) “Yes, we'll be there,” Cliff said as Jake wandered into their living room, bare toes feeling the raised bumps of the cool plastic guidestrip in their carpet.
6) Marion looked up from the aetheric tank where the representations of the airships drifted in and out of view amid scudding clouds.
7) Thorn huddled under the rank mutant foxglove, waiting for his sister.
8) Nick climbed off the motorcycle and shed his helmet.
9) He rode the edges of the estate, the damp December wind chilling him even through the greatcoat he wore.
10) “Another good Christian driver who couldn't be bothered to park it when he had his 'o hai, Jesus,' moment,” Laura grumbled as she stopped the tow truck.
11) Hi. My name is Olivia.
12) Kenisha stared at the glossy brochure in her hand as the bus lurched and heard her mama's voice in her head saying, "What a load of jive-ass honky bullshit that is."
13) It was with modest trepidation and a good deal more brazenness on a fine April day in 1923, that I approached the New York office of Edward Francis Kilsby, Lord Withycombe, renowned flying ace of the Great War and adventurer extraordinaire.
14) The early sun peered through the narrow windows in the thick adobe walls and fell right into Matt's eyes.
15) Ian did his best not to shift around in the uncomfortable position.
16) He ran through the darkness of the forest, roots leaping out of the ground to trip him, branches seizing at his hair as if the wood itself was a living thing bent on helping his pursuers.
17) His eleven o'clock had been most unsatisfying.
18) Jared Byrne scowled at his hand-held crystal as he shifted on the flying carpet, trying to get comfortable on his way home from the University.
19) Eli came dashing across the fields just at sunset with Shep close on his heels, panting too hard to bark.
20) Val watched the private jet until it vanished from sight.
