valarltd: (editing hell)
The edits for my Christmas story set in the Nikolai 'verse came back.

The new pre-edit checklist for EC's Cavemen anth came in.

I am now officially in Editing Hell.
More Cowbell!

She sent me six imps and a 5ml of Sin.

Sin: Thoroughly corrupted: amber, sandalwood, black patchouli and cinnamon.

My comment: the sandalwood and patchouli come right through. I smell like a head shop from just touching the rim. I love it. After an hour it's mellowed to a gorgeous spicy incense smell.

(On Dollface, the wet has a strong cinnamon smell. On Obi, cinnamon and patchouli.)

I can't wait to try the imps.

Plunder: The scent of a pirate's bumboat, overflowing with stolen wares: tea leaf, cassia, cinnamon bark, clove, allspice, sandalwood, tobacco, peppercorn, and nutmeg.

Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo: Bottled happiness. Helps reverse misfortune, brings light and laughter to even the most troubled and discordant place, and aids in alleviating the stress and discontent that accompanies so many of life's daily trials.

Bastet: Bast, Ubasti, Ailuros, Ba-en-Aset. Represented as both a domestic cat and a fierce lioness, she truly evidences traits of both. She is the Mother of All Cats, Goddess of Sensuality, Fertility, and a guardian and protector of women. She is also one of the Eyes of Ra, and in that aspect is an Avenging Goddess, seeking retribution and punishing enemies of her people. Luxuriant amber, warm Egyptian musk, fierce saffron and soft myrrh, almond, cardamom and golden lotus.

Baku: Our Nightmarebane. Named after the Baku, benevolent Japanese spirits that eat nightmares. In Japanese tradition, nightmares are gifts from malevolent spirits; when you wake up from one, you may call, "Baku, please eat my dreams!", and if you are virtuous and merciful in spirit, the Baku will devour the evil, transforming it into a blessing of good fortune.

Lady Macbeth: The essence of ambition, covetousness and manipulation: sweet Bordeaux wine, blood red currant, thyme and wild berries.

Bewitched: Deep, luscious green and berry scents that evoke images of woodland witchcraft and the raw power of nature: blackberry, sage, green tea, wild berries and dark musk.

Bun thinks her mother is a miracle worker.
She thinks I can make these:
http://www.theanticraft.com/archive/lugh08/alia.htm
I keep telling her my knitting level is barely MoonPrincess RavenDark, and not nearly Strong Intermediate. (practice practice!)

Instead, she's getting the beads to do this:
http://www.theanticraft.com/archive/beltane06/henryviii.htm

And since my crochet is definitely at Loose Woman level, I'm making this:
http://www.theanticraft.com/archive/lugh06/asphyxiation.htm

She's also getting a tarot deck and a book on using it. (Waite-Rider)

Dollface...she's tougher.
She's getting A Witch's Primer, Grade 1
I'm making/buying her slippers
And since she's determined to perform femininity, she's getting a make-your-own make-up kit.
(why I find femininity useless is a post in itself)

Obi is getting a guitar from my father.
So I thought I'd get him a Guitar for Dummies book and a stand and a tuner
(depending on what it comes with)
Maybe a book on comparative religion.

Jonner... Not a clue
He's probably getting a Pokeman manga
Probably a cookbook or some kitchen gadget (NOT a mini blowtorch!)
Spiritual needs are sorely lacking on this kid, so not sure what to get him there. Maybe a book of Norse mythology or something.
