Holiday maundering

Jonner was sick for his birthday. Poor baby's ears are giving him trouble. My own have been popping and filling and I suspect it's an air-pressure thing. Dollface woke up teething. She's getting 6 year molars. We're taking them to Build-a-Bear over the break for their birthdays.

It's dark and gloomy, and the leaves are falling like the rain that soon will be.

I need eggs and tape.
I also need to bring the rest of the gifts in from the car and wrap them. Bun has no presents under the tree. Woe. (this will be remedied soon)

Mail went out yesterday. Mom, Dad, MiL, eyeless_angel, pickingroses are out. irene_heron and jkb, hang in there.


I have eggnog and rum. I may even have nutmeg (must check). My big cake pan is full of chocolate cake, so I can't make gingerbread yet

Dad called. He's off to work. Santa may wear red, but his delivery elves wear UPS brown and Dad is their overseer. Mom got her nursing license again and is working at the VA. She's working Christmas Day, but only after 5 PM.

Gotta make sure everyone has clothes for church tonight.

BB, short for Big Bad Wolf, figures he’s got a pretty good life. There’s room for improvement, though, so when he gets the chance to meet one of his mailing list members, "Furball", he takes it. Furball, or Danion, is a fellow lycanthrope, and as they get to know each other through the days leading up to their Christmas birthday, they find their chemistry impossible to resist. In fact, BB finds himself grateful for the knowledge that wolves mate for life...

Christmas Eve Services

Good Service tonight.

Only sustained a 1 sq. cm burn from handing Obi the hymnal.

They did a "march to Bethlehem" and all the kids walked down the middle aisle and up the side ones carrying banners. Obi got the Joseph banner, Jonner got a shepherd and Dollface got a wiseman.
I heartily approve. Beats the daylights out of drilling through a Christmas Pageant.

We did the hymnal shuffle a few times. Dollface sat on my lap most of the service. I suspect this is the last year for that. She's getting so big. Met her classroom aide too.

It was good. I feel uplifted. We may have to do this regularly. I'm bad about church. I never have liked going, diong so mostly out of social obligation.

I'm painfully middle-class with a lot of WASP values (despite my Celt background) and where i come from "good people go to church." It's non-negotiable.
