If I had borne a child the first year I participated in organized fandom (in any way) the child would be 22 years old. This is graduating from college/starting grad school age.

I'd have been a 14 year old mama, true.

My love child would have been fathered by Star Base Kansas City and probably named either Samantha Anne or Charles Mordred.

Unable to bollix up my computer with Linux, Mudd has turned his attention to his own.
Bully for him.

Obi forgot half his homework and his planner today. But he did his dreaded spelling! Now to make sure he turns it in. The kid will do the work and forget to turn it in for credit.

Bunny is coping with the Jr. high workload. She's also PMSing which makes her cranky and whiny. That will end in a couple days, thank goodness. I can't cope with whiny before 8 AM. Esp. since it sends me into PsychoAmazonWarBitch PMS.

Jonner wet himself on the way home. Will send a note instructing his teacher to potty him about 2:30. One can only wash shoes so many times. I hope to avoid a repeat of last spring.

I entered a crocheted toy exchange. I sent out a purple dragon and got back a grey cat. Dollface has glommed onto it, named it Miss Kitty (for the card lady with hair like mama's: yes, Miss Kitty on "Gunsmoke") and takes it everywhere. Miss Kitty has been to the gas station, the bank and Wal-Mart. She has amused a Pakistani grandmama and an Arkansas granny equally. I call it Alice after a stuffed cat in a Lewis Grizzard story about the costs of raising kids. (Alice went for a ride in the dishwasher...)

Voyager is kicking my butt at work. I'm having the worst time getting new materials put on reserve.

We got our item tags for the fair. Now to finish the items!

I asked this in vidding chat, and would like a broader sample.

Do people have trouble taking older SF fandoms seriously?

I've been told Battlestar Galactica could not possibly make a serious vid, that the prequels have destroyed any hope of taking Star Wars seriously, and that Star Trek as a whole is too cheesy for anything but comedy vids.

(I would refer the last person to "Old Friends, Bookends")

Is my sad devotion to an ancient religion doomed to get my vids laughed off the screen?

Am I an anachronism? An old fogey of fandom who can't jump on the Stargate/Enterprise/fandom du jour bandwagon, but prefers to stay with her comfortable old threadbare myths?

I'm starting to feel that way.

I'd love to make a slashy Starbuck/Apollo vid (I haven't found the right song yet) I want to do Spock/McCoy. For that matter, i still think I want to do a Millennium Falcon focus vid to "Rhiannon."

What destroys the earlier loves for you?
What makes the once-loved texts worthy only of mockery?

Enlighten me.
