So, I'm obsessively reading the F'list, and the [livejournal.com profile] vividcon f'list and every link to all thing VVC.
Just getting the feedback, y'know. Media West spoiled me. There's something fabulous about being in a room where everyone gets the joke you've made and is laughing their heads off at your vid. Wish I could have seen the reaction for "I will always love you." I understand it was doozy.

My waterbottle has a block of ice because someone set the fridge too high.

Got to thinking of Fandom by Osmosis.
I have a lot of this. I have never seen MUNCLE ([livejournal.com profile] irene_heron, get me in on the lending library, and send me the pimping tapes!), or Professionals. I don't remember Starsky and Hutch (although we watched it). I don't watch Stargate, Farscape, Space: Above and Beyond or Angel (we lost WB access after 1st season). I don't read Justice League, or any comics for that matter.

Yet, I recognize characters from all of these, can pinpoint a vid done in them, and have read some of the fanfic.

Then again, I don't follow Yuh-Gi-Oh!, Ed, Edd and Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Spongebob Squarepants or Teen Titans, and I have a basic grasp on those as well. (not to mention the hots for Pegasus)

Back to stalking my F'list. Reviews have been...mixed.

I am receiving confirmation that I don't think like most vidders. I liked this vid, and got the point. It's not great. It's certainly not "Dirty World" "Affirmation" or "Come What May." But it isn't bad.

What I see are sidekicks that are (romantically) invisible to their heroes.
Jim and Blair, Han & Luke, Holmes& Watson, and especially Michael & Brian.

I hate the song. It's manufactured pop at its worst. (Says the woman who vidded "100 Years") But this song makes me hate it a little less.

The changes of fandoms does not feel organic. It comes in odd places, not at the end of a verse or chorus, but in mid-verse.

As much as I love my boys in a slashy context, I don't think Star Wars fit this vid as well as some. The Brian/Michael bit was inspired, and the QL bits were good. Even X-Files worked. But neither SW nor Highlander worked very well for me.

But I do get it.

I informed Bunny her dad had gotten a copy of "Yellow Submarine"
Her comment: "That can't end well."

She and i braved the Wilds of WalMart and Walgreens. $70 later, we have all the school supplies except for the planners, D'Nealian tablets and whiteboard markers.
(The first 2 are bought at school)

What happened to
Pencils, Big Chief tablet, crayons, glue scissors and a desk-cover?

When did highlighters, hand sanitizer and 5 3-ring binders per kid become standard issue?

Vid reviews have been...mixed.

I wish they'd run "To all the girls I loved before" instead of "Spooky". It was a stronger vid, and funny as well. (Jim Kirk does love his ladies.)

Current thoughts:
Another sampler vid. Pure goofiness. Lando & Leia to "Time of the Season." "My Heart will go on." Mudd is threatening to vid "Yellow Submarine." When he told me the fandom, my comment was "And whose monkeycrack have you been smoking?"

Oh, and Sentinel? An abundance of the sort of story I've been wanting.
