Bump.

“Han.”

Thump.

“Han!”

“Smatta?”

“Shhhh. Something’s outside the shelter. Get your blaster.”

“Lotsa stuff outside.” Han rolled over to go back to sleep.

Luke resorted to dirty tactics: leaning over and nibbling the spot behind his lover’s ear that made him thrust against the empty air.

“Awright!” Han seized Luke and kissed him thoroughly.

“The noises?” Luke reminded him “Let’s check.”

“Spoilsport.” Han sat up and reached for his boots. Gone. They opened the shelterseal to a sight out of a holocomedy.

“Kid, you gotta quit leaving our boots where the hoojibs can get them for their Moon Races.”


Hoojibs here And Plif was their leader.

Busy as usual

Last night was the audition for The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Bunny read as the White Witch. (hope!) Obi read as Tumnus. (meep) Jonner wouldn't do anything except hold Dollface's hands and stare into her eyes in order to avoid the whole scary thing. He'll be fine as a walk-on animal.

Tonight: pork roast in the crockpot, hubby to class. Much kitchen cleaning. Maybe I can coax a few pages of a story out. And definitely some cross-stitch, while watching K-19 the Widowmaker. That's if I can avoid enough Ford/Neeson Squeeing to keep count.

That means a federal agency such as the FBI can write its own subpoenas to conduct a search - no judges needed.

Unfortunately, security and liberty form a zero-sum equation. The inevitable trade-off: To increase security is to decrease liberty and vice versa. In the past, such trade-offs have been temporary - for the duration of the crisis of the moment. But today, we cannot see an end to the War on Terrorism, and that forces us to decide how secure we have to be and how free we want to be.

In other news, i have a most strange and unusual son. he totally put the whole Fellowship OOC: Legolas is insane, Gimli's a speed runner, the hobbits are great warriors, Boromir lives, and Aragorn has gone girly (He wasn't sure if Aragorn had turned into a girl or was just acting like one). And Gandalf is New and Improved! While ravens are not like writing desks, apparently wizards are not unlike washing powder.

And my daughter wanted to know which is the better poem for a card:

Who cares because crayons are too."

And Dollface has playdough. She's content. We played fractions for a while.

Fannish Lies

Which of the following is a lie about my fannish life?

1) My first fanfic was converting a "Valley of the Dinosaurs" comic to a script form on my mother's typewriter at the age of 8.

2) My first television memories are watching "Lost in Space" and "Star Trek."

3) I've had gen, het and slash fic published in zines in the last year. All Star Wars.

4) The first fanzine I ever owned was Elusive Lover: Alternate Visions

5) I can recite (along with the tape) all of "A Wind to Shake the Stars" and "Points of Origin" from the ANH radio play. Doing the voices no less.
