It's that time of year.

Every August the faithful make their annual pilgrimage to Memphis. Great for tourism. Lousy for those of us who have to fight the traffic on the way to work.

Not so many this year. Last year was big. Last year, the King had been dead for 25 years.

A grown woman who owns spacer's boots and has bloodstriped pants sitting on the sewing machine has no business criticizing those wearing sideburns and white jumpsuits.

Current events, from the Memphis Commercial Appeal:
On Wednesday alone, fans could tickle their brains with trivia, watch an Elvis-themed Redbirds game, attend the Elvis World lunch or the Elvis Presley Memorial Dinner Charity Event or enjoy the Fiesta En Acapulco.

Some of those fans chose to flock to Elvis Con, a gathering of memorabilia dealers in the Clarion Hotel on Brooks Road.

Hope they have a good visit.
