So, I sent the kids to VBS at the Church of Christ. This is the single most elaborate VBS set-up I've ever seen. It's called "Marketplace 29 AD" (ys, I know that should be AD 29) The kids dress in costumes of the era, and they split off into the 12 Tribes. I have a Judean, a Ruebanite, a Danite and an Asherite. They have a brief storytime in their tribe's tent (real tents with small standards pitched before them) then go to the market. They can go to the stonemason's and carve blocks of styrofoam into something, or the potter's and make a pot, or the weaver's and weave a tapestry, or the jewelers'. There's a Musical instrument store, a scribe and a spice shop. A storytreller and a candy maker. They had live sheep in the market. I'll get a pic tomorrow.

When they're all in the market, someone playing Jesus comes in and gives a snmall sermon (the Beatitudes or something).

The tribes are mixed age, and the bigger kids are buddied with the smaller ones.
Dollface has a buddy named Meagan who is about Bunny's age. The buddies make sure the littles get where the whole group is going.

I wish I were 9. This would be so cool!


Had The Talk with the kids about plans for fall. Bunny unimpressed with the idea of walking to school. Obi tickled by idea of walking home.
Bunny is in charge of feeding and watering the cat, and taking care of his box.
Obi has the trash and cans.
Jonner is now my Grocery Buddy. He has to reach low items, load the cart and help me bag and carry.

The next few weeks will be an archaeology dig to rival Dr. Jones. We're cleaning bedrooms to do a clothing inventory so I can shop for school.
