Had a nice dinner with Victoria. She's passing through on her way to a St. Louis engagement
Worked this morning.
Edited a short story and 1/4 of a novel today.
How's this for an opener:
Green light filtered down through the water, blue where the air mattress over my head helped hold me under the lake. I fought my way back to the surface, kicking my uncle so I could steal a few precious gasps of air before he pushed me under again, and again, and again.
Somehow, I knew I was not going to come up the next time.
Years later, the rest of us realized that she never did.
