A few words about the election

valarltd1) Obama is not the AntiChrist. He is not the Great Black Hope. He is a man doing a bastard job the best way he can. He's a wholly owned corporate schill, a rightist and still believes that most government is the problem. He is not a liberal. He is nothing approaching a socialist. And I'm going to slap the next person who "has a problem with him being Muslim." Because every Muslim *I* know goes to Trinity United Church of CHRIST! He's as Muslim as I am Mennonite, given that we both received our early childhood education from religious sources.
1a) The congressional make-up has not changed. This means there is still going to be massive government constipation. Don't look for all those awesome/dreadful laws anytime soon.
2) The economy is recovering. It's a slow recovery, but it is coming back.
3) Apparently, I'm still human, at least for another four years.
I'm not a pig or cow (Terry England-R. GA).
I cannot be jailed for a miscarriage most places. (Georgia HB1 and Utah HB12 didn't pass, but it still happens in South Carolina, Iowa, Mississippi & Indiana.)
I can still vote, despite what Ann Coulter, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, Rush Limbaugh, John Derbyshire and Janis Lane (of the Mississippi Tea Party) think.
My girls can still get contraception and health screenings from Planned Parenthood.
Despite what Rev. Dennis Terry says, I am still an American.
But just wait until 2016!
4) For the first time ever, three states approved same-sex marriage by a majority of voters: Washington, Maine and Maryland. This is a change from the 3:1 and 5:1 defeats it was suffering 4 years ago. Nine states now allow same-sex couples to marry.
5) Washington State, Massachusetts and Colorado approved medical marijuana. My hemp rant is a topic for another time. Let's say it is the camel's nose. And maybe in 50 years, gods willing we endure so long, we'll have the sense to cultivate for industrial uses and reduce petroleum consumption. Alas, Arkansas was stupid as usual. That makes 17 states that have approved it.
Now, I'm going to have breakfast.
