I have no radio in my truck right now, so I was living in a contented bubble of eclectic music.

And I wake up to find Scott Walker is still governor of Wisconsin and Ray Bradbury is dead.
There is not a blanket big enough to cover my head with.

As for Walker, Wisconsin, you deserve what you get. I'm sorry for the decent folks trapped into your race to the bottom.

Bradbury...HE was supposed to live forever! He gave it a darn good run.
He was writing new stuff right up to 2007: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Bradbury_bibliography
He is one of my inspirations and style models. I may never be 1/10 of the write he was, but I keep going. There will be no more fire balloons over Greentown Illinois. Summer will come apace, without winged men, or martians, or dandelion wine.

Dandelion Wine, because we all need some right now:

Ingredients
1 quart yellow dandelion blossoms, well rinsed
1 gallon boiling water
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
8 cups white sugar
1 orange, sliced
1 lemon slice

Directions
1. Place dandelion blossoms in the boiling water, and allow to stand for 4 minutes. Remove and discard the blossoms, and let the water cool to 90 degrees F (32 degrees C).
2. Stir in the yeast, sugar, orange slices, and lemon slice; pour into a plastic fermentor, and attach a fermentation lock. Let the wine ferment in a cool area until the bubbles stop, 10 to 14 days. Siphon the wine off of the lees, and strain through cheesecloth before bottling in quart-sized, sterilized canning jars with lids and rings. Age the wine at least a week for best flavor.

We still managed to get in a Democratic majority to vote against Walker.

And choosing to die during the Venus transit is classy. Unlike Captain Cook, who was mistaken for a hawiian fertility god and sacrificed, he went from old age.

*Huggles tightly*

Don't worry. It'll be all right. I know it doesn't sound much like comfort, but...it'll be all right.

And R.I.P., Ray Bradbury. :(
