Today, we celebrate the death of the Corn God, the beginning of the Harvest. It is a process, as the yearwheel always is, and will culminate at Mabon in six weeks. But for now, we make our bread and eat the good things of our gardens.
Seems to me Sting must have known these words when he wrote "Fields of Gold" with its repeated phrase "among the fields of barley". Lovely little montage!
