I took a hiatus while my back was out. Wasn't long enough.

You have biked 276 miles.
You have passed Deep in the wild, south of the Great Road.
It is 10 miles to the next landmark.
You have 182 miles to reach Rivendell.

The land before them sloped away southwards, but it was wild and pathless; bushes and stunted trees grew in dense patches with wide barren spaces in between. The grass was scanty, coarse, and grey; and the leaves in the thickets were faded and falling. It was a cheerless land, and their journey was slow and gloomy.

Polari is an odd hodge-podge

"Mince", for example, for "to walk affectedly", doesn't seem like much of a leap from "mincing,", meaning "affectedly dainty", or "walking with short steps", which dates back to the 1520's. "Khazi" for toilet comes up at dictionary.com as 19th century English. I went over to the main lexicon site, and some of it seems to be lifted straight from Romany, some from thieves' cant, British school slang, Italian, Spanish, rhyming slang, Yiddish, whatever could be crammed in. I wonder how secret is really was. There were probably plenty of times when people speaking Polari thought they were being mysterious while folks around them could understand every word.
