A fabled gem and the fabled isles of Atlantis. An apprentice magician and 13th-century English folklore. Dragons and wizards and ... what's this? ... the curse of the pharaoh's manicurists. Fables, faeries, and folklore etc. may be the stuff of sci-fi and fantasy, but the "curse" belongs to Angelia Sparrow and co-author Naomi Brooks. Their novel The Curse of the Pharaoh's Manicurists crosses the paranormal with the archeological, and it travels from London to Paris to the tomb of Ni-ankh-khnum and Khnum-ho-tep, overseers of the royal fingernails in the palace of the king of Egypt. (And speaking of fantasy, the book is also a gay love story between a Dartmouth grad and a World War I flying ace.)

Go read the rest. And Memphis folk come on out!
