Am thinking too much

valarltdThere's a scene in NICK & CORBAN, where Nick taked the librarian, Corban, for a ride on his motorcyle around Memphis.
One of the places they go is the Accursed Zone: From Southern north to Central and from East South Parkway west to S. McLean. All the buildings are burned-out shells. The fine Victorian houses are crumbling ruins. Only the train-tracks are maintained.
At the corner of Cooper St and Young Avenue, the heart of what used to be Memphis' gay district, there is a two storey high cairn. The rocks are all about the size of a bag of flour. As Nick and Corban come closer, they see bones poking out of the cairn.
It is where the Righteous rose up and cleansed the city of Memphis. Nick shows this to Corban, who is NOT a CSA native, to warn him of the penalties of being gay in this country.
There are plenty who would be more than willing to pick up those rocks, in the name of God and family values and manhood, just in case you, my constant reader, thinks I exaggerate.
