If I haven't done a thing, why am I pooped?

I cleaned
I shopped
I cooked
I'm on my 3rd load of laundry,
my second load of dishes.
I talked to my dad.
I talked to both my sisters.
I took 2 bags of trash out.

I inspired my collaborator and got some direction for a story.

So why are things still in shambles and why do I feel like I haven't done a blessed thing?

My sparechange Con Fund has an IOU for $6.25, which with the change in there equals $8.08. It would be more, but Jonner helped me clean and the spare change he found went straight into his bank.

I'm exhausted just reading your list. And guilty -- most of that stuff was on my list of things to do yesterday and I didn't do a darn thing except a small amount of cooking. Go you!

Wasn't an option program. we had to have bread and socks.

I do this. I was sitting the other day, watching a show I wanted to watch, laundry was going in the background, and I was folding clothes -- and I felt like I wasn't doing anything. I think it's a mindset, especially when you've gotten to the point that there's SO MUCH that has yet to be done. And it doesn't help that most of the things you're talking about doing (and hey, I'm impressed) are always ongoing -- and therefore don't feel like you're really "doing" things that get you anywhere.

Myself, I'm working on one productive thing a day beyond the standard cook/wash dishes/everyday type thing. It's slow, but I figure at some point it will start to look better around here.

I think it's the overwhelming amount in the "yet to be done" stack that kills me.

I cleared the hearth and mantlepiece yesterday.
Today, I'll clear the floor and vacuum, and find pictures for my daughter's class video, and and and

Yeah, you just can't look it as "I have ALL THIS yet to do." I do that, and I just get completely overwhelmed and shut down. It sounds like you're divvying it up, though, trying to look at it as "I have to do this ONE thing," and if not, maybe try it? Yes, all that other stuff will still be there, but you really only can do one thing at a time, so... I find that if I tell myself I have to do one thing, but only one thing (and it can be one load of laundry, or just cleaning the sink or bathtub, etc.), and I have permission to only do that one thing, then often I go on to do another, and maybe another -- but it's okay as long as I've done that one thing. Trying to look at all of it at once is majorly depressing, I find.
