The Alphabet Song

And via [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup, a meme!

List 10 songs that begin with the letter given to you and explain why you picked them. Comment and I shall give you a letter.

SD gave me the letter L

The Last Saskatchewan Pirate--The Arrogant Worms. I love this song. It's one of the silliest pirate songs ever.

Last Train to Clarksville--The Monkees. Vietnam War protest disguised as bubble-gum pop.

Last unicorn--America. Haunted me for years and years after seeing the movie.

Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight--Oak Ridge Boys. One of the greatest road songs ever.

Legend of Bonnie and Clyde--Merle Haggard. I love story songs. A lot.

Life Could Not Better Be--Danny Kaye. From The Court Jester. A happy song that always brightens my day

Lola--The Kinks. Girls will be boys and boys will eb girls. It';s a mixed up muddled up, shook up world.

Lost Highway--Hank Williams. Another great road song. Sad and searching for something he can't have.

Love Song for a Vampire--Annie Lenox. One of the best things to come out of the Gary Oldman Dracula movie

Lullabye for a Weary World--Julia Ecklar. One of the sweetest saddest songs I know

I am the say with with "Last Unicorn." I had no idea who sang it (and this was pre-Internet days so you couldn't just go online and find somebody who knew!) so it became a personal quest to find the song. I ended up putting my tape recorder next to the tv speaker and recording it, just so I could have it. I only have the Kenny Loggins version now, so I am totally grabbing the America version. You've made my weekend, thank you!

And also agree about the Annie Lennox. That whole soundtrack is spectacular, IMO. Grabbing a couple of other songs, too.
