oddball writing update

Since Jan 1, I have produced 19,046 words, not counting PoV edits to Kestrel. This is about 793.5 words/day. Not bad at all, at first glance.

If I keep up, I will produce roughly 290,000 words. Better get cracking if I'm to break 500,000 words this year.

Half a million is a LOT. An awful lot. Trust me on this.

Not to discourage your goal, but writing is all I do, eight to ten hours a day five days a week, and often six or seven days. I barely squeaked past 500,000.

(OTOH, Neil Gaiman once wrote 12,000 in one day. So it obviously can be done. Maybe just not by me!)

I know it's an awful lot.

But, I can dream...

I'll be happy with 300,000, which is 20K more than last year
But sme year I will write half a million.

I didn't mean to be discouraging, which upon rereading, I am. I think I've spent too much time staring at the monitor today...

Dreams and goals are good things! I just didn't want you to overpressure yourself when there's already a lot on your plate, but I think that's just me being "mama Cindy" who hovers and chides and worries.
