Bad songfic, incomplete
Scene: Interior day, Cloud city. Luke has just seen the carbonite containing Han go floating past in the grip of the bounty hunter, Boba Fett. Drums and recorder intro for BATTLE DAWN begin. No longer skulking along the walls, he strides for the carbon freezing chamber.
Scene I: The Heroic Battle
Luke:
I must contain my anger or I won’t control my power
But, Force, how long I’ve waited just to see this very hour!
It’s only fit I am the one to raise this storm of fire
And I will turn this mining town into your funeral pyre!
My teachers say I must not hate, but I will not pretend.
I saw the wrecks you made of them, my father, mentor, friends!
The deaths you’ve caused and pain you wrought will be so slow to fade
Ah, would I had your coward heart beneath my naked blade!
(The doors of the carbon chamber slide open revealing Vader awaiting him at the top of the stairs. Luke climbs them silently and stands before the sith lord, dwarfed by his great shadow. He attacks without warning.)
Vader: Impressive. Obi-Wan taught you well.
Luke: You’re fighting both of us.
(They duel briefly, Vader disarms Luke, sending his saber flying and him tumbling down the stairs. Vader takes the stairs at a mighty leap, but Luke rolls out of the way. Before he can grab his saber, Vader is pushing him back into the carbon pit. Luke falls in. A gesture from Vader trips the switch and carbon pours in, freezing Luke where he stands.)
Vader: All too easy.
(Lando Calrissian effects the escape of Leia, Chewbacca and the droids. Vader, distracted by the richer prize, lets them go.)
Scene II: the Daring Rescue!
Title Card: Six Months Later
Scene: Interior, night, Jabba’s palace. A lone figure slips through the shadows and deactivates the field holding the carbon-frozen Han Solo on the wall. Gloved fingers move over the control panel and the pulse indicator speeds up as the carbonite begins to melt. Solo falls with a thud. He tries weakly to push himself up and fails.)
Han: Luke, get me outta this.
Shadowy Figure: Shhhh. It’s all right.
Han (feeling the face above him and encountering only leather and metal): Where am I? Who are you? Why can’t I see?
SF (over the intro to BLINDED EYES): Someone who loves you, hotshot. (Removes helmet to show it is Princess Leia) The hibernation sickness will pass. We have to get you to safety. (He attempts to stand and walk, only to fail. Leia rolls her eyes)
(Sings)
Don’t know where you’re going, but you think you know the way.
20/20 vision, but you can’t seethe light of day.
You know the way is deadly, but you can’t tell which is which.
Good thing I can lead you, or you’d end up in the ditch.
(Frustrated) Can’t you see?
(Heartbroken) You can’t see.
(Confused) Don’t you know?
(Angry) You don’t know.
(begins guiding Han out. The chorus is sung over an escape montage, and ends with them blasting off Tatooine in a Y wing)
Blinded eyes can’t see the light when it’s glowing in the night right in front of you.
Blinded eyes can’t see the truth, when it’s written on the wall right in plain view.
Blinded eyes can’t see the one, or the work that I have done, out of love for you.
Blinded eyes.
