Grrr!

Rotten kids gave my comp a virus. And Windows Movie maker hasn't worked right since. Had to redo all my Bedknobs & Broomsticks clips as .avi and my Big Red One clips are totally mutilated.

Darndarndarn!

BTW: anyone have suggestions on older slash pairings? I have Adama/Tigh, Spock/McCoy, Charles/Erik, Henry/Marcus, Alexei/Misha and Gandalf/Saruman. Anyone have any old guys (Highlanders who are 1000 but look 30 DON'T count) they love and adore and think deserve their own video? I want wrinkles and grey hair. Planning a cap from Space Cowboys as it is.

Anyone have an ep title for the "Babylon 5" stuff that features elderly Londo/G'Kar?

I thought I had enough, but I'm stuck. I'm down to Miracle Max/Grandpa.

Is John Glover old enough? Cause, Lucifer/Zeke from Brimstone just makes my toes all toasty. ;)

Good suggestion, and a thought i had myself. But no, definitely too young.

Even Lionel Luthor/Jonathan Kent is too young.

I want true geezers.

And yeah, Zeke/Morningstar gets me in the good way every time.

I know he doesn't look it -- almost as much as Christopher "Saruman" Lee doesn't look eighty -- but John Glover is actually over 60 now.

No, that's not a typo. Sixty. Just picture him with the silver hair that's lurking under all that dye, and which sneaks out in his beard occasionally. And look closely at the hot, hot lines on his face. (Never mind the fantastic shape his body's in... or, alternately, milk THAT for all it's worth.)

[identity profile] valarltd.livejournal.com 2004-04-19 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
I know. Purrrr.

But even with a 60+ Harrison Ford, I went with the seriously aged up shots from the end of K19 and not the active middle-aged ones.

(Liam Neeson looks disturbingly like Leonard Nimoy by the end of that flick)

Giles/Ethan sort of fits the bill, she said from her outpost in Buffydom, but there's precious little Ethan footage. Also Doctor/Master, in Doctor Who fandom -- they're chromologically ancient, and actually look older if the combo is 3rd Doctor/Master-as-played-by-Roger-Delgado.

[identity profile] mpoetess.livejournal.com 2004-04-17 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Chronologically, even. and by 'actually look older' I don't mean 'older than ancient' but 'like older men, as opposed to later combinations of the two characters when played by younger actors.'

[identity profile] valarltd.livejournal.com 2004-04-18 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
Giles/Ethan are still too young. They're only 40 somethings.
I'm looking at 60+

John Pertwee doctor might work. Let me look into that, and thanks for the suggestion,

Jed/Leo - West Wing.

There are a few B5 eps with the later stuff with Londo/G'Kar, but I think most of it is in War Without End I and II which are season 3 eps 16 and 17.

[identity profile] valarltd.livejournal.com 2004-04-18 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I'm definitely using the Londo/G'Kar. that with Clint Eastwod/Tommy Lee Jones from Space Cowboys should get me there.

MMMMMmmmmmm, Londo/G'Kar. That's always hot.

Okay, here are some other ideas for you:

Ambassador Spock/Captain Picard (I'm thinking of the ep after Sarek's been on the Enterprise and subsequently passed away, and Spock melds with Picard in his quarters to share Picard's memories of his father -- let me know if you don't know the ep I mean, and I'll dig something up for you, because it's a fantastically slash-foddery scene. Plus, rrrowrr, Patrick Stewart and old!Nimoy.)

Do cartoons count? Because, Batman Beyond Bruce. (See icon.) HOTNESS. Ancient, decrepit, cantankerous hotness. If you've got your heart set on a two-older-gentlemen pairing (Bruce is typically paired with pretty little Terry), well, sadly the series got the WB axe before they could do any of the eps with 60-something Dick Grayson, but you do have your choice of all-grown-up Tim Drake (the other Robin) -- in the animated film "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker" -- or a gently-aged Superman -- in the two-part third season episode "The Call" which has not to date been released on video but which is available to download or on a bootleg DVD.

Let's see, let's see. Jack love old-man-slash, Jack can come up with more. Detective John Munch, played by the fabulous (hey, he said it!) Richard Belzer, formerly of Homicide: Life on the Street and currently on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. I never got to see more than an ep and a half of H:LotS, so I'm not sure what pairing goodness there is to be had there aside from several crossovers with Law & Order (TOS) in which he had major chemistry and UST with Det. Lenny Briscoe. (On SVU I tend to 'ship him with Ice-T's character Odafin Tutuola, who's probably too young, but there's always Capt. Craigen.)

Almost any of Sean Connery's roles over the last 15-20 years. Dear Bob he's hot, toupeed or not, and his voice -- with that accent -- ::melts::

Ditto Ben Kingsley (well, not Gandhi, but other than that role...) I can suggest "Sneakers" in particular, where his character is just screaming to be slashed with Robert Redford's character.

Sir Ian McKellen's been in plenty of films showcasing his elder hotness, besides the X-films; I have "Bent," which unfortunately he problably doesn't have enough screentime for vidding purposes (though Sir Ian/Mick Jagger! ::noises::), and "Gods and Monsters," which really has no characters to speak of besides Sir Ian's and Brendan Fraser's (but he can act, honest. I didn't believe it either before I saw this).

Hack. Have you ever seen this show? Slashier than most cop shows get with their partners, and that's saying something. Mike Olshansky/Marcellus Washington (Andre Braugher is one of those guys whose hotness shot through the roof once his hair went grey) and Mike/Grizz Grzelak both work -- Father Grizz only appeared in the first season. (Hey, who's easier to slash than a Roman Catholic priest?)

Well, that's what I come up with off the top of my head. I'm sure I'll be thwapping myself upside the head all day with the ones I overlooked, and I'll ask around and/or direct my other old-man-slash-loving friends here, too.

Hi. thanks for the suggestions.

As I already have a Spock/McCoy, I would be loathe to pair him with Picard later in the same video.

I love ancient!Cranky!Bruce, but shifting between live action and animated has to be done with great care. And Return of the Joker has some incredibly disturbing moments in it anyway.

I'm using Sean Connery from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. So far that's my favorite bit in the vid. He and the late Denholm Elliot are just adorable.

I have 2 Ian McKellens (Gandalf and Magneto), and would like to avoid a third. We're talking less than 4 minutes.

I haven't seen Hack or L&O. Like I said, some B5, some Space Cowboys that should round me off nicely.

My bad. You said

Anyone have any old guys (Highlanders who are 1000 but look 30 DON'T count) they love and adore and think deserve their own video?

and I thought you were doing a series of hot-old-guys vids, not one that used clips from assorted fandoms. You think you've got enough now, though?

I wouldn't have suggested old!Bruce at all, if I'd thought you were going to mix it with live-action; you're right, that just wouldn't work. (And doing a vid with just comic book scans... well, I know I'd love to see a Bruce one to Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt," and I'd even do it myself if I had the right software, but I realise there are technical issues enough to dissuade most vidders.)

[identity profile] valarltd.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Oooo, I do like that idea. Bruce to Hurt. I have that song. It would just be a matter of getting the source material...

Vid Bunny Attack!

Thanks. if I make it, I'll want you to beta it, and there's a title card in it for you
