Veteran's Day and other stuff
I first heard this on "What have we learned, Charlie Brown?" which was either a Veteran's or a Memorial Day special. I think it only aired once. Linus recites this at Flander's graveyard.
In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918), Canadian Army
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
My grandfather flew over North Africa. My adopted grandfather could not serve, went 4F with measels in Basic. He would have gone to the Pacific. My father was National Guard during Vietnam and served in the Kansas City Race Riots. I washed out of AF ROTC.
In other stuff:
I am writing for
jedi__santa,
yuletide, and
3_ships on top of Nano.
*facepalm*
Okay, back to my boys.
